The use of marquees for events is no longer merely suited to the summer months. With the addition of flooring systems, thermostatically controlled heating added to the resilience of modern framed structures come winter, rain or shine, marquees can provide protection from the elements all year round. Traditional or Frame Marquees?

    
 
The Traditional Marquee is what comes to mind for most people when you mention marquees to them. They are availble in either high gloss PVC or matt natural canvas and are erected using poles and guy ropes. Many people prefer the appearance of traditional marquees and believe that the character that they can offer to an event makes them more desirable for the summer. Due to their simple construction they are the more affordable option.
Aluminium Frame marquees also known as clear-span marquees offer greater versatility and use less space than traditional marquees as they do not require guy ropes.They are free standing being constructed from metal framework and covered with high gloss PVC covers. Due to their framed structure they are capable of withstanding very high winds making them suitable for use all year round. There are no poles inside them and so there is a greater space available inside the marquee. When using a clear-span marquee with a modern flooring system it is possible to erect the marquee on uneven or sloping ground making them far more adaptable than traditional marquees.

If you are planning a summer event it is advisory to book early. You will find that some of the more established companies book up for the summer months more than 6 months in advance.

Choose a marquee company that has regular repeat business and find out who they're corporate clients are. This is a great way of discovering if they provide a good service and if their marquees will be clean. Customers would not go back if they received poor service the first time.

Don't rely on testimonials alone when choosing a marquee company especially when you are spending a considerable amount of money. Although testimonials are a good indicator that the company has done good work in the past, the best way to get an understanding of the service you will receive is to go and see the marquee company's warehouse. This way you will be able to see the stock for yourself and get a feel for the scale of the company that you are dealing with.

Check for the address of the marquee companies warehouse. There are event companies out there that set up divert telephone numbers and offices in regions outside of their business area and then sub contract the orders that they take. This will mean that the representative that has visited you will not be providing a true portrayal of the company that will be carrying out the work for you. A sure way of discovering if a company subcontracts their work is to thoroughly read their terms and conditions.

Be cautious of cheap quotes. The marquee hire industry is one where if you look hard enough you will find someone that will offer a cheaper quote but you should be cautious as you will most likely not be receiving the same level of service. Areas that may withhold on are appropriate insurance, clean equipment, qualified staff and most importantly for major event organisers the correct health and safety procedures.
